Introducing the “Pioneer Gold Plate” Service
YourPioneer XX50 series receiver is a masterpiece of mid-century engineering and design —beautifully built and delivering fantastic sound. These legendary units are still going strong after nearly 50 years, but they often need maintenance to keep performing at their best.
At Stereo Lab, we’ve bundled essential restoration services into a single, comprehensive package: the “Pioneer Gold Plate” Service. In most cases, this service will restore your receiver to its former glory. If we discover additional issues, we’ll discuss them with you and determine the best course of action.
Service includes.
- Cleaning all controls and switches, including pre-main loop
- Dress all connections with CAIG De-Oxit
- Replacing all lamps with LED, in your choice of blue or white, including indicator lamps
- Stabilize the “dog house” lamp assembly.
- New LED stereo beacon
- Clean and lube tuning capacitor
- Replacement of speaker protection relay
- Replacement of capacitors on the power supply
- Replacement of capacitors on tone board and amp board as needed
- FM discriminator centering
- Peak FM IF coils
- Clean and polish faceplate
- Detail entire exterior of piece
- Clean and De-Ox rear RCA and speaker binding posts
- Test all inputs, including phono
- Test for more serious issues that may need to be addressed separately
- Test for broken or cold solder joints and reflow if needed
- Calibrate DC Offset and Bias per spec
- Replace missing feet with new 3-D printed feet
- Produce report on unit performance with our state-of-the-art analyzer
- 180 day warranty on any work we have done

Caveats:
Problems found outside the service parameters stated are not eligible for special pricing and will be estimated separately. Quad units are not eligible. Units outside the XX50 model lines are not eligible. Models that are eligible to enjoy Gold Plate Service in the Pioneer line include: SX-450, SX-550, SX650, SX-750, SX-850, SX-950, SX-1050, SX-1250
